Types of air conditioners
We have several types of air conditioners on the market. They differ mainly in the method of installation and additional functions. Choosing the right type for us will depend on whether we want to cool one room or several, and whether we additionally care about the heating function.
We have a choice of air conditioners:
Split
Multisplit
With built-in heat pump
Portable
Split air conditioner
Split air conditioners, i.e. separable ones, are the most popular. They consist of two interconnected outdoor and indoor units. Their mode of operation is described above. The outdoor unit should be installed in an accessible and preferably shaded place. When installing, pay attention to protection against strong wind and snowfall. We should also remember that both units should be as close to each other as possible, in the end they are connected with pipes
Multisplit air conditioners
This type of air conditioners was created for single-family houses, larger apartments or offices. That is, all those premises where there are many rooms that require air conditioning. The multisplit air conditioner allows you to connect several indoor units to one outdoor unit. It is designed in such a way that all indoor units, as well as only one, can be turned on at the same time. It gives great comfort of use. At the same time, it is best to plan this type of air conditioners at the construction stage. They are invasive in assembly, they require many connections that should be hidden in the walls. On the other hand, indoor units can be selected depending on the demand for cooling power and the chosen method of installation. This means that the internal devices do not have to be all the same. A typical wall-mounted model can be installed in one room, and a floor-standing model in the other. This gives a lot of flexibility and the ability to adapt to individual needs.
Portable air conditioners
The last group of air conditioners was created for all those apartments where the installation of traditional air conditioning is not possible. They can be placed anywhere in the room, the only condition is the proximity of the window. Most work by sucking in hot air from the room. Inside, it is filtered and cooled, and then blown out. The rest of the warm air is discharged outside through a flexible pipe. Special seals for such air conditioners prevent hot air from entering the interior through the tilted window. While the entire solution is practical and easy to use, it is not without its drawbacks. These devices are distinguished by lower efficiency than fixed air conditioners, and they are quite noisy. However, these inconveniences are second to the convenience of the overall solution.
What to look for when buying an air conditioner?
Knowing the available options, you should consider which air conditioner will best meet our expectations and what should be the guidelines when buying. First of all, we need to know what room we need air conditioning for. For example, a fixed model will be better for a bedroom than a portable one, because it works quieter. In addition, other models will be better for the office and others for home rooms.
